Hope that Masi Oka wins, although Jeremy Piven was excellent in HBO's Entourage. And of course I really hope Heroes would win because the show is excellent. In the movie categories, the only movie that I saw was The Departed so I can't really judge. What do u guys think?

Cons:
- I haven't seen much of these stuff either, but doncha think it's kinda weird to see the Clint vs. Clint shit going on here? I mean, neither his two films got nom for Best Picture, man. Is the idea here that he’s deserving of an award for "the achievement?" God, I'm sooo gonna be anti-Clint this awards season.
- Johnny Depp for rehashing Jack Sparrow without any added nuance?
- The lack of A Scanner Darkly for Best Animated is definitely a crime.
- Apocalypto and Letters from Iwo Jima for Foreign Language?!? Lancau!!!
- And where the fuck is Battlestar Galactica, man?! Oh, yeah, I remember. Maybe if Galactica had become a big hit like Heroes it would have had a chance.

Pros:
- What can I say? Chiwetel's got two noms including Actor for Miniseries or Movie. Wohooo!
- Good for "that Matt Damon's friend."
- Holy shit! The Fountain!

"doncha think it's kinda weird to see the Clint vs. Clint shit going on here?"
- yes, it is weird. Pengkritik kat US awal2 lagi dah cakap yg Clint pasti akan tersenarai sbb buat filem patriotik Amerika. But I think it's even weirder yang dia buat 2 film yg sama dari 'pandangan' yg berbeza. I mean, 'pandangan'nya tetap akan berpihak kepada US soldiers kan?

"..The lack of A Scanner Darkly for Best Animated is definitely a crime."
- now that u mentioned it, it is kinda shocking.

"..where the fuck is Battlestar Galactica, man?!"
- dlm Emmy awards hari tu pun BG got 0 nominations. Conspiracy!

aku dah agak kau akan excited dgn abang Chiwetel kau..hehe.

Dexter Morgan will PWN them all!!!!

PS: Aku dah pretty lost pasal films la sekarang, most of the films pun aku tak tengok lagi. And Leonardo??? He's like, so 6 years ago!

- I dunno what to expect. The screenwriter is a Japanese, so it should be interesting nonetheless.

"Aku dah agak kau akan excited dgn abang Chiwetel kau..."
- "Abang" my ass! I AM Chiwetel, motherfucker!

"And Leonardo??? He's like, so 6 years ago!"
- Are you even serious? I think you should stop watching Sepet already.

Babel is this year's Crash – a very manipulative and dishonest film. So logik jugak dia sapu semua.

-check ur spelling first Zack. :)

"Babel is this year's Crash – a very manipulative and dishonest film. "
- Ko dh tgk Babel? Kalau Babel is this year's Crash, The Departed plak this year's Brokeback??

"The Departed plak this year's Brokeback??"

Very, very good question. The Departed (dan begitu jugak Inside Man) are unique beasts. And they single-handedly made 2006 jadi a great year to be entertained at the movies. Tahun lepas punya big movies memang best-best and engrossing and meaningful, tapi takde sapa is going to mistake Brokeback Mountain for entertainment.

Tapi memang rare that any movie would be both.

Spike dan Marty membuktikan yang kita tak perlu nak weigh a movie down with heavy handed drama to make a point (note: fuck you, Superman Returns!) – kedua-dua Inside Man dan The Departed continued to explore tema-tema dan isu-isu para pengarahnya have always been interested in, sementara kasi suap audiens dengan entertainment yang diorang nak. Spike dengan Marty dedua had their biggest commercial hits this year, and neither one of them had to sell out to do it.

The Departed is this year's Brokeback? Not really I guess. Aku kira The Departed adalah tahun ni punya A History of Violence dan Inside Man adalah tahun ni punya Batman Begins. Perhatikan filmography pengarah-pengarahnya dan aku bet kau boleh nampak comparison tu. Unless, of course, kau bodoh filem. Bwahahaha!

P/S: So, Edd, what's your opinion on Departed really? I think you never actually said anything about it out-loud.

-very interesting Nazim. very interesting indeed.

My opinion about the departed? I don't know man. Sebelum aku tgk, ramai sgt yang cakap best, excellent, the best Marty movie ever (which is not)..etc. So by the time aku tgk, expectation got really high. Aku enjoy watching it, tapi ada sedikit frust. Maybe I made a mistake of trying to compare Departed with Infernal Affairs (IA).

Apa yg aku boleh ckp, bagi aku IA is a psycho-thriller. Aku dpt rasa the tension, the fear and the paranoia of the 2 main character in IA. The intricate strcture and dramatic tension IA yg buat ia menarik. Dlm Departed aku tak jumpa semua tu.

Dan aku tak faham kenapa perlu ada the love triangle relationship dgn that psychologist. Why she sleeps with Leo character without any motivation or reason? And her acting is..blank. Benda2 ni mcm menganggu aku sepanjang filem ni.

Dan one more thing, (aku rasa kau x setuju), Jack Nicholson is entertaining at first. But after a while, I found him very distracting. Aku rasa better kalau dia lebih subtle. Menacing yet very subtle.

Aku tak kata filem ni sampah. Visually, aku rasa texture dia cantik. The acting of Leo and Matt is good. And it is entertaining. But not edge-of-your-seat tension that I expect.

Maybe jugak sbb IA diceritakan secara trilogi dan The Departed tidak. Maybe jugak sbb aku terlalu menyukai IA dan Tony Leung performance. Maybe jugak Departed shouldn't be compared to IA.

I don't know man.. I just don't know.

First of all, tahun ni am excited lah. Tapi all british ruled, meh. Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Kate Winslet?

Winslet, kakak aku tuh, hopefully dapat masuk Oscar this time. And it will be about fifth times.

Leornado, he should be there, dan masuk final Oscar. So both can win (Winslet and Leo)

One thing, Jennifer Hudson masuk beb.(read my entry about her)

Enough to make me happy.
